Reading a QR Code with your Android phone will now be more convenient.

The built-in QR Code scanner on Android is now able to automatically zoom in for scanning. Additionally, Ben Schoon from 9to5google has noted that Google has integrated a native QR Code reader on Android, which is the quickest and most dependable method for scanning codes.

The “scan QR Code” button is available in the quick settings of Android devices. Simply swipe down on the home screen twice to access the options for enabling or disabling it. Tapping on the QR Code scanning button will open the smartphone camera to detect the image and show a clickable link.

Now this QR Codes reader can automatically zoom in on the camera, which is beneficial when the phone is at a distance and the drawing is not clearly visible. This new feature was initially noticed by Pixel phone users in early August.

I tested it on my Pixel 7 pro and it functions properly!

Introduction and release dates

The release date for the automatic zoom feature of the QR Code reader in Android’s quick actions is still uncertain. Currently, the feature has been observed on Pixel 8 Pro and Pixel 7 devices.
