Outlook receives a solution for issues with freezing and slow performance.

Outlook is experiencing issues with freezing and opening slowly. According to Sergiu Gatlan of BleepingComputer, Microsoft 365 users are facing delays and crashes when opening the Outlook application. Users have noted that closing and reopening Outlook can make it open quickly.

Activating airplane mode on the device where the application is accessed may be responsible for the reported Outlook problems, as per Microsoft. This action could result in the display of specific error messages.

  • Microsoft Outlook cannot be opened.
  • The Outlook window cannot be opened.
  • The folder collection is inaccessible.
  • Logging in to Microsoft Exchange was unsuccessful.

Outlook freezing and slow opening issues are triggered by bugs that arise while preparing the cache, a process initiated when new profiles are being set up or shared calendar enhancements are being disabled, according to Microsoft.

One possible reason for this symptom is the cache being reactivated, which can occur when a user creates a new profile or switches from REST to MAPI, thus deactivating shared calendar enhancements.

Reading the status of service-enabled features on non-Office MAPI-based applications can be difficult, leading to unexpected changes when using these applications.

Outlook beta version problems have been resolved.

The problems of freezing and slow performance when opening the Outlook app have been fixed in the 16929.15000 build released on the Beta channel. This update is expected to be available to all users by the end of November 2023.
