The Microsoft Store website now utilizes a “cards” layout for browsing apps, categories, promotions, and other features. Users can access main titles, themed game selections, Game Pass subscription offers, and more by clicking on the “Games” or “Movies and TV” tabs at the top.

Microsoft engineer Judah Gabriel posted on “X” (formerly Twitter) about the release of the updated Microsoft Store web platform design. He mentioned the incorporation of various web component tools like Lit, Shoelace, Vite, and PWABuilder.

Today, we are excited to announce the launch of the new app store for Windows, which is built with web components and various tools such as Lit, Shoelace, Vite, and PWA template. It is powered by a C# ASPNET backend.

Gabriel responded to a query regarding the compatibility between the web application and the Microsoft Store desktop by providing the following clarification.

Consider it as the online platform for the Windows application store. Both function in conjunction. I collaborate with the team behind the Store desktop app, who are excellent individuals developing the top in-box app for Windows. I hope that more Windows in-box applications will be as sophisticated as the Store.

The Microsoft Desktop Store has recently been updated with enhancements, such as the addition of Instant Games feature that allows users to play casual games directly within the app without downloading them.
