Firefox 118 can now translate pages without relying on servers.

Mozilla Firefox version 118 now enables the translation of complete web pages directly on the device, eliminating the need for server assistance. This update, as reported by Corbin Davenport of HowtoGeek, allows for local page translation without relying on cloud servers like Google Chrome.

The new Firefox feature known as “fullpage translation” in version 118 of the browser translates an entire page without needing an internet connection, providing faster translations compared to cloud-dependent systems like Google Chrome.

Firefox’s recent translation feature, which was in development and undergoing testing for several years, was created in partnership with Bergamot and received financial support from the European Union. Bergamot is a project that focuses on local translation software for browsers, and it functioned as an extension within Firefox.
