WhatsApp is introducing access keys as an alternative to passwords, utilizing biometrics (digital or facial) and PIN codes. This new feature is now accessible to all users on the stable version of WhatsApp for Android, according to a post on the app’s official profile on a platform formerly known as Twitter.
WhatsApp adopts passkeys and removes the necessity for passwords.

Access keys, also known as passkeys, provide enhanced security by preventing phishing attacks and unauthorized access to user accounts through their phone numbers combined with SMS verification. Google recently introduced this security feature for its users, according to a report by Net Workshop.
How will passkeys function?
By activating access keys on WhatsApp, they will be requested whenever you log in or perform actions involving sensitive data in the account, such as accessing the encrypted backup of messages.
Access keys, also known as passkeys, offer better security compared to common two-step authentication methods by preventing unauthorized access using compromised or stolen information.
What will serve as an access key?
WhatsApp will offer users the option to utilize facial recognition and fingerprint technology, along with a PIN code that is stored locally and not accessible online, making it secure against cyber attacks.
